What is the most challenging and time-consuming thing when packing? For me, it is always to pack my makeup bag. Where I’m going, what I’ll be wearing, who I’ll be with, what events I’ll have? The list goes on. You can’t just bring one eyeshadow and a lipstick! Of course, if you’re like me.
This time, I was traveling just for a few days to have relaxing time away from the city. I thought neutral colors and basics will do. I really have been working on minimising the amount of makeup I bring with me when I travel. I used to bring quite a lot of lipsticks and eyeshadows and you know, options, but I learned that keeping it compact is more travel-friendly to my luggage and to save time to explore more than to use time on makeup when I am traveling. I listed my must-bring categories and explained more details where you see the “+”.
*all the links are for my readers in Japan to buy it online (sorry if you are from other countries)
*I apologise that some of the items mentioned are not in the picture because I was using it a few minutes before I took this picture and forgot to include or it was in the makeup bag
What’s in it
Foundation – Chanel Vitalumièr Aqua Foundation
+ Perfect for traveling because the packaging isn’t glass
Powder Foundation – Diorskin Forever Extreme Control Powder Foundation
+ To set everything nice and perfect
Setting Power (optional but definitely a must-have) – NARS Light Reflecting Powder (not in the picture)
+ You may not have enough time to check your makeup often whilst travelling so why not make it last all day from the beginning?
Concealer – Clarins Instant Concealer
+ Great coverage and last all day
Eyebrow Products – Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade
+ No brows, no life
My Original MAC quads – Charcoal Brown, Brun, Wedge, Rice Paper
+ Must-haves for brows, eyeshadow, and for highlight in one palette! I recommend this combo a lot.
Cream Eyeshadow – MAC Groundwork Paint Pot
+ Always have at least one cream eyeshadow in your makeup bag
Eyeshadows – Sable, Contrast by MAC, and Beware by Urban Decay
+ Bring your most used basics, and a pop of color in case you wanted to have fun and wear something unique
Contour – Studio Quick Trick Stick by MAC (contour & highlight)
+ Powder or stick, I always bring one good contour item
Cheek – Becca Champagne Pop Highlight and Cheek kit
+ Two in one products are the best when traveling. I love Becca Champagne Pop and this peachy coral pink blush. Useful for any looks and it pops
Lips – Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color in Burnt Spice by MAC, Rock It! lipstick and Kindness lipgloss also by MAC (Caitlyn Jenner Collection)
+ Pick a few of your favourite nude shades. Something that is simple yet complementary to whatever makeup you wear
+ I forgot to include in this picture but I always have a red lipstick in my makeup bag. NARS Dragon Girl is the one to go
Mascara – Maybeline The Falsies waterproof and a spare mascara (not in this picture), NARS Audacious Mascara (non-waterproof)
+ Bring your best mascara. I always have two to layer to create “wow” lashes
What do you think of my makeup look/ my travel makeup bag?
I tried to narrow it down to what I would really use as you see on the list and minimized the options yet not excluded. Makeup bag I use is from Ted Baker. It is big enough to put everything I need and it is also well-structured so I do not have to worry about my makeup crashing in my baggage.
What do you bring with you when you are traveling? Any must-haves I should know? Please tell me in the comment section!
Also, my skin care bag is whole another blog post. Let me know if you are interested to see it.
I hope you enjoyed reading and I will see you next time.
